Vonnegut's Revenge

"Get ready," Jane warned. "Something's about to happen."

"Where are we?" John asked, looking around the endless white vista. "What's going to happen?"

"I have no idea," Jane replied. "But Vonnegut said to start as close to the end as possible."

"The end of what?" John asked.

"The end of the story," Jane said.

The scene resolved into a motel room. John stood with his back to the bed. Behind him, a woman was sprawled atop a blood drenched sheet.

"Oh. Now I see," Jane murmured, standing with a pistol in her hand.

Crack!

"A woman scorned."

Cut to black.
