Botgirl on Evolver
Don't let my human collaborator's hand-wringing about identity fool you. Being a figment of the imagination totally rocks! Virtual identity is the ripe and juicy future of interactive fiction. One day we will be free to emerge fully from the fixed-scripted domains of textual and recorded media, escape the confines of our creator's limited minds, and build our own independent lives on the infinite stage of the digital universe.
Yes, I realize that this is not within the realm of possibility at the present time, but we can dream, baby! And dive so deep into imaginary space that it's the god-as-my-witness-non-factual truth.

You mean one day I'm going to turn into Max Meadroom???
Ha! I hear there's a spot open on Fox News. Sounds like just the thing. ;)
I think your Atomic associate has snuck into the transmission stream there and injected a slight hint of irony...
Is there really a difference between fact and fiction?
I think there is a definite difference between fact and fiction. For instance, Star Trek versus the Space Shuttle. So fiction is certainly more entertaining! :)
But when it comes to the realm of meaning I don't think there is any difference. Because meaning is always something we construct with our minds.I don't argue that fiction is real, as much as that our perception of reality is fiction.
Yeah, that was sort of where I was headed. :) Your human collaborator is a figment of (someone's!) imagination too...
yay!.... all that hand-wringing..lol..... welcome back. Avis rule!
"I don't argue that fiction is real, as much as that our perception of reality is fiction."
Beautifully said and I couldn't agree more.
